Yeah, yeah, Apple has joined the gang of wireless charging guys. And this has been confirmed by a statement that was released by the company, “Apple is an active member of many standards development organizations, as both a leader and contributor. Apple is joining the Wireless Power Consortium to be able to participate and contribute ideas to the open, collaborative development of future wireless charging standards. We look forward to working together with the WPC and its members.”
The Wireless Power Consortium is a multinational technology consortium that creates and promotes wide market adoption of its interface standard Qi, used for wireless charging across a number of products. The company has over 220 companies as its members as of 2016.
So now because of this latest development, there’s word on the streets that iPhone 8 might come with wireless charging.
But no jokes guys, I really do believe that Apple might be cooking something new with the iPhone 8; although wireless charging is not a new thing – Apple Watch already works with a magnetic cable that charges your device wireless. Also, there are many, many companies in the Wireless Power Consortium, including Samsung, Huawei, Qualcomm, LG, HTC and the rest. So wireless charging might or might not be included for the next iPhone. fingers crossed
