Sony confirms the PlayStation Neo exists–but it won’t be at E3
The long-rumored PlayStation 4 Neo is real, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House has confirmed.
After months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, Sony has confirmed that it is indeed working on a “high-end PS4,” however, it won’t be making an appearance at E3.
Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House revealed to the Financial Times that the new console is being targeted at hardcore gamers and consumers with 4K televisions, but will be more expensive than PlayStation 4, which currently has an RRP of $350.
“It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” he said. “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”
When asked if we’d be seeing the console at E3, he said that it would not be unveiled at the event due to Sony wanting to “have a full range of the best experiences on the new system” that it “can showcase in their entirety.”
House also eased fears that the old PlayStation 4 will be left behind with the release of an upgraded console. “All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,” he said.
